Reminders for Parents

Dear Parents,

We have some updates regarding high school activities. Our marquee outfront of the high school is having some difficulties so I wanted to post these updates as well.

Feb. 24, 2010 - We have a 1/2 day of school; all students released at 11:20 a.m.
March 4th, 2010- Parent Teacher Conferences
March 9-11- MME and ACT Test for all Juniors. Juniors released right after the exam.

Finals are...

Final exams are on January 27, 28, 29, 2010. Release time for the high school is at 11:20 a.m. for all three days. No school on February 1, 2010 for teacher records day.

Students when taking the fianls be sure that you do the following:

1. Review your class notes from the entire first semester.
2. Look at old tests and exams to get a feel for what the teacher may ask you.
3. Create your own final exam from the old tests and practice taking it.
4. Place questions on note cards and review them. Have someone quiz you.
5. Eat breakfast before you come to school.
6. Go to bed early 10:00 am, so you are rested for your exams.
7. On the day your exams remember don't panic.
8. Tell yourself that you can do this. Breath in your nose and out your mouth.
9. If you don't know a question skip it and return to it later.
10. Eliminate similar answers and cross out the obvious wrong ones.

Although we all wished the outcome of the game was a little bit different, I feel that our high school really came through with flying colors this weekend. Gaining 1500 votes in 24 hours provides all of us proof of how much student and community spirit we have at our high school.

In addition, the excitement of having Channel 4 at our school and the enthusiam our students showed at 5:30 a.m. was simply fantastic. The decoration of the high school celebrating our football team was awesome. As I told our student body and staff on Friday, it was one of my proudest moments as principal.

School is Out!

Thanks to all those who made our school year a great one! Students checked out on Thursday and the staff on Friday. Reminder that our school re-opens for Summer School on June 24th. See Mrs. Thomas in the high school library or call her at 586-791-6301 x1023 in order to take a class or two this summer. School re-opens in the fall on September 8th. Have a great summer!

Senior Awards Ceremony

CHS is Accredited

A team of seven auditors from North Central Association looked into our academic processes within the high school and as a result our high school is being recommended for Accreditation. Accreditation is the highest honor you can receive from this group. Furthermore, they were impressed how much our parents, students and staff care about one another at our school. Furthermore, a few of the auditors mentioned that they that wished they could take some of that optimism with them to other schools. Congrats and thank you is to be expressed throughout our district and community. It is a pleasure to serve you.

Reminder for parents that Leadership Recognition Night is today at 7:00 p.m. in the High School Auditorium.

Mr. Carpenter will be honored at the MISD as High School Teacher of the Year on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and Bach Nyugen will be honored as our All Academic County Awards Ceremony on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Penna's in Stering Heights.

Tomorrow and Thursday the high school will be hosting a North Central Accreditation Review Visitation and on Thursday there will be an early release for students at 11:15 a.m.. The staff will be hosting an in-service on Response to Intervention (RTI) in the afternoon and meeting with our accreditation evaluation team.

Announcement to Our Parents and Students

Dear Families,

In order to determine if students are waiting for a ride or just hanging around after school, we are asking our students and families to notify the High School Main Office so that we can give them an identifying pass. This ensures that your student has official business after school. If a student does not have official business after school we simply ask them to return home in a safe and orderly fashion. If you have any questions please contact the High School Main Office 586-791-6301 x2003.

A reminder that we return from Spring Break on April 20th, starting at 7:40 a.m. and the day ends at our regular time of 2:25 p.m..

MOSAIC DAY (Making Our School An Inspirational Community)

MOSAIC Day will be hosted on April 1st from 12:30 p.m. to 2:25 p.m. at the high school. MOSAIC Day enables students and teachers to participate in activities of interest such as .. karate, knitting, poetry etc... . Our goal is to enable students and teachers to get to know one another outside of their regular school activities. We feel that this program will help us further motivate our students by providing them additional positive role models in areas of common interest.

Senior Parents

We are holding our second scheduled meeting for graduating senior parents on April 2, 2009 in the High School Conference Center at 7:00 p.m.. If you had attended our meeting on March 26, 2009, you do not need to attend.

ACT and MME

I would like to thank all the parents, students and staff for doing a great job today as we had 216 out of 221 take the first part of the MME/ACT test. This effort took an extra ordinate amount of time and effort from everyone. Just a reminder that all Juniors, who are taking the test, will be released at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

CPC Schedule for MME Testing

March 11th & 12th Seniors report to CPC at their regular time and are released at 10:28 a.m.. \

Juniors do not need to report to CPC on the three days that they are taking the MME/ACT Test. They are excused to go home after the ACT/MME test at Clintondale High School.

Just a reminder! Parent Teacher Conferences are on March 5th from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and 6:00 8:00 p.m.. If you can not attend, please feel free to e-mail our staff at http://www.clintondale.k12.mi.us/ or call to make an appointment at 586-791-6301.

The MME/ACT will be given March 10-12 and March 24-26 (make ups) to all junior students. All junior students partaking in the exams will be released at the following times:

March 10th 12:21 p.m.

March 11th 10:55 a.m.

March 12th 10:55 a.m.

The rest of the student body will have a regular full day and be release at 2:25 p.m..
